Regular and Spring Eye types

In addition to the standard surgeons and post-mortem range, Barber produce a wide range of "special" needles. Needles are offered in regular and spring eye and in conventional cutting as well as reverse cutting. Heavier gauge DIN standard can also be supplied.

Conventional cutting needles have the cutting edge on the inside of the needle curvature and hence directed towards the wound. Suture tension is therefore at the top of the triangular part of the needle and tissue tear resistance is weak. Straight, Half Curved, 3/8 Circle, 1/2 Circle Needle shapes
Triangular, Round, Trocar, Oval and Knife Point types

Reverse cutting needles have the cutting edge on the outside and the flat surface towards the wound. This may offer better resistance against tissue wear. Reverse cutting needles however do require more force to penetrate the tissue.

All variations in all ranges of needles are available - download the relevant PDF file from the Drop Down list above.
